Title: Deaf, Dumb, Blind & Stupid: Michael Anderson’s Fight For Life

Author: Tremayne Moore

Rating: 5

Headline: Powerful Beyond Words

Tremayne Moore tells us the heartbreaking story of a young man named Michael Anderson in Deaf, Dumb, Blind & Stupid.  Michael was dealt a very unfortunate hand that included being molested and having a mother that believed her boyfriend over her son. Michael tried his best to lead a normal life and he attempted to turn to others for help and support but no one was ever truly there for him. He confided in a man at his church but this trusted adult was irresponsible and never sought additional help for Michael.

Moore writes a story that is so powerful and it gives a voice to so many of our young people that feel they are being overlooked. I read Deaf, Dumb, Blind & Stupid while on a flight from America to Europe and it had me so visibly shaken and emotional that the lady next to me asked to read it once I finished. Michael Anderson’s story should serve as a wake-up call to all of us that when a young person comes to us in distress that we must not only listen to them but we must take action because we can be the difference between life and death. Tremayne Moore, thank you for being bold and bringing these issues to the forefront!
