Angelia Vernon Menchan

1. When did you fall in love with books?
I started reading at age four thanks to my cousins who were four years older, from that day to this, I have never gone a day without reading something.
2. When did you realize you wanted to write?
I started journaling at 11 and much of what I wrote was stories, more about how things could be. I have hundreds of longhand stories that are decades old. I recall my wish in my year book was to be a juvenile counselor and writer, both of which I accomplished.
3. Tell us about yourself.
Ive been married 34 years to the love of my life, I have two grown sons and one granddaughter and another on the way. I work as a Budget Officer but prior to that I was a Job Corps Counselor. I love mentoring, it is my way of giving back.
4. Who are your favorite authors?
James Baldwin, Colin Channer, Pearl Cleage AND J. California Cooper.
5. What are your favorite books?
Just Above My Head by James Baldwin and Waiting in Vain by Colin Channer.
6. Are you currently working on anything new? If so, when should we expect it?
On September 1st I started a series, entitled the Be Careful Series, I have published 6 since then and am working on #7. The readers are truly loving them and I am loving creating new characters. They are BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR; JAY RETURNS; DENNIS AND ALICIA; WHAT’S CALLED FAMILY; CHERYL’S CHALLENGE’S; JANICE’S JOURNEY and the upcoming CHENISE CHANGES?
7. What makes you unique as an author?
I write across genre and refused to be boxed in by what is trendy or popular.
8. Why should readers pick up your books?
My book are all availabe at and most online booksellers.
